Sára Petrickova

is a painter and martial artist based in Kiel

Her paintings explore the physical practice of martial arts. She researches and develops a visual language that combines the coexistence of strength and exhaustion.

The figures forzen in the midst of movement a gesture—bodies that are fighting, but also dreaming represent a state of an almost meditative presence within one’s own body.
They personify physical memories, fragments of Sára herself; they carry experiences and contradictions between an image of an identity that emerges that is fluid, a form of queer masculinity.
